Store-type Shops in the District Can Apply Until September 6... Four Teams Selected Through Growth Plan Review
Strengthening Competitiveness of Promising Small Business Brands to Revitalize Local Markets and Build Future Food Ecosystems
Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) is launching support to help small business owners with high recognition and potential grow into local brands through the ‘Gwanak-style Alley Commercial District Local Brand Development Project.’
Local brands are a compound of Local and Brand, referring to commercial districts and stores created by utilizing the characteristics and unique resources of a region.
Last year, the district conducted a ‘Local Brand Development Pilot Project’ to highlight the distinctiveness and charm of local commercial districts and to build consensus among residents and visitors.
As a result, in March of this year, the Sharosugil commercial district in Gwanak-gu was selected in the ‘Seoul Local Brand Commercial District Development Project’ competition. Consequently, the district will receive a budget of 3 billion KRW over three years until 2026 to support local brand development.
The district plans to select four teams of small business owners with differentiated content through the ‘Gwanak-style Alley Commercial District Local Brand Development Project.’ Each selected team can receive up to 5.5 million KRW in budget support and mentoring from local brand experts to develop content and advance their projects.
The project recruitment targets store-type businesses selling products and services within alley commercial districts or developed commercial districts in Gwanak-gu. Promising small business owners wishing to grow into distinctive local brands can apply by submitting an application form along with a self-established local brand growth plan.
Applications must be submitted by 6:00 PM on September 6, either by visiting Gwanak-gu Office (Department of Local Commercial District Revitalization) or via email.
For more details, check the announcement posted on the Gwanak-gu Office website bulletin board or contact the Department of Local Commercial District Revitalization at Gwanak-gu Office.
Mayor Park Jun-hee said, “I hope that local brands growing together with Gwanak-gu will become a fresh breeze in the local commercial districts,” adding, “We will spare no support to strengthen the brand competitiveness of small business owners and secure sustainable future livelihoods for Gwanak-gu.”
