Tour of 18 Neighborhoods Starting from Dangsan 2-dong on August 29
Journey of Communication Begins to Reflect Residents' Opinions in 2025 Budget Planning
Prioritizing Residents' Interests... Listening to Residents' Voices at Key Sites
Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) will launch the "Visiting Dong (Neighborhood) Communication Meetings" starting August 29, touring 18 neighborhoods within the district to embark on a grand journey of communication with residents.
This visiting Dong communication meeting was organized in line with District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon's usual administrative philosophy that "the core of local autonomy is implementing what residents want." It aims to visit every corner of residents' daily lives, listen directly to diverse opinions, and reflect them in district administration.
Additionally, this communication meeting departs from the previous method of visiting multiple neighborhoods in a single day by visiting one neighborhood per day. This resident-centered communication approach will enhance the efficiency of the meetings and narrow the distance between residents and the administration.
The district will begin its communication journey on August 29 in Dangsan 2-dong. The meetings will consist of ▲ dialogues with heads of professional organizations to review the 2025 budget planning and ▲ on-site visits to major facilities by region, listening attentively to residents' broad opinions that will shape the district's future.
In particular, these meetings will hold candid discussions on local issues directly selected by residents, such as neighborhood-specific long-standing projects, to realize true local autonomy. Residents' opinions will be reviewed for policy necessity and feasibility and prioritized in next year's budget planning, thereby guaranteeing residents' opportunities to participate in district administration.
Next, the district plans to visit three major facilities in each neighborhood, including cultural, sports, welfare facilities, and churches, to closely examine their status and gather opinions from stakeholders and users to utilize in district administration.
Last year, through the "Warm Companionship with Seniors" initiative, the district visited all 170 senior centers in the area to meet with elderly residents. From May to July this year, communication meetings with parents of elementary, middle, and high school students were held to hear diverse voices from residents, continuing on-site and communicative administration.
Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, stated, "The power to change Yeongdeungpo's future lies in the voices of the residents." He added, "We will listen carefully to residents' stories and use them as a foundation for district development, doing our best to create a Yeongdeungpo-gu where residents are the true owners."
