Absence from Workshop Following Postponement of Dinner with Party Leadership
President Yoon Suk-yeol did not attend the People Power Party (PPP) workshop for the first time since his inauguration, following his postponement of a dinner with the PPP leadership.
The PPP held a parliamentary workshop on the 29th at the Incheon International Airport Corporation Talent Development Center. The workshop is an annual event usually held ahead of the September regular session of the National Assembly, where party leaders and affiliated lawmakers gather to discuss current issues and strengthen party unity.
This is the first time President Yoon has missed the workshop since taking office. He attended the workshop held on August 25, 2022, about three months after his inauguration, along with presidential office aides and Cabinet members.
At that time, President Yoon emphasized the party-government one team, stating, "Only when we think solely of the people and their livelihoods will our government and party gain the trust of the people."

President Yoon also mentioned the failures of the previous Moon Jae-in administration and the minority government situation at the workshop on August 28 last year, saying, "We have no choice but to fight against these forces." He also attended the PPP workshop held on May 30, when the 22nd National Assembly convened.
This time, it is reported that President Yoon found it difficult to attend the workshop due to a busy schedule related to livelihood issues and reform tasks.
However, there is analysis that the postponement of the dinner with the PPP leadership scheduled for the 30th of this month and his absence from this workshop stem from differences in stance with PPP leader Han Dong-hoon over the issue of increasing medical school admissions.
