Impact of Exclusive Release and Special Screening
The movie 'Lim Young-woong | I'm Hero The Stadium,' capturing singer Lim Young-woong's live concert at Seoul World Cup Stadium, earned over 1.4 billion KRW in ticket sales on its opening day.
According to the Korean Film Council's integrated box office data on the 29th, the previous day's revenue was 1,420,690,000 KRW. This result was achieved by attracting 49,725 viewers. Although it was behind 'Alien: Romulus' (63,379 viewers), it topped the box office in terms of revenue.
The gap was significant. 'Alien: Romulus' had a revenue share of 499,430,000 KRW, accounting for 15.6%. 'Lim Young-woong | I'm Hero The Stadium' reached 44.3%.
Despite attracting fewer viewers, it generated more revenue due to its exclusive release and special theaters. It was exclusively released at CGV. The number of screens (224) was much fewer than 'Alien: Romulus' (998).
However, as a concert live film, ticket prices were set relatively high. With sold-out shows in special theaters such as IMAX and ScreenX, it was able to generate substantial revenue.
The popularity is expected to continue for a while. As of 10 a.m. on the day, it ranked first with a reservation rate of 26.2% (89,205 people). The second place is 'Veteran 2' starring Hwang Jung-min and Jung Hae-jin, opening on the 13th of next month, with 13.7% (46,602 people).
