Joint Emergency Response Drill with Sacheon Police Station for Verbal Abuse and Assault Prevention
Sacheon City in Gyeongnam announced on the 29th that it conducted a joint simulation drill with the Sacheon Police Station at the city hall’s civil service office to prepare for emergencies such as verbal abuse or assault that may occur during civil service interactions.
Sacheon City and Sacheon Police Station are conducting a joint emergency drill at the city hall civil service office to prepare for situations involving verbal abuse and assault.
This simulation drill was organized to enhance systematic and effective on-site response capabilities in case of emergencies, as well as to protect civil servants in charge from illegal acts by civil service visitors.
The drill simulated a scenario in which a visitor to the city hall’s civil service office verbally abuses and assaults the responsible civil servant due to being unable to apply for a passport.
In particular, the drill was conducted in a realistic manner according to the emergency response manual for the civil service office, including attempts to calm and mediate with the visitor, activating the emergency bell, evacuating the affected civil servant, and police dispatch and handover.
Meanwhile, simulation drills to prepare for emergencies in the civil service office are conducted not only at the city hall but also at all township and district administrative welfare centers once each in the first and second half of the year.
A city official stated, “Verbal abuse and assault by civil service visitors are clearly illegal acts, and we will do our best to create an environment where both visitors and civil servants are protected and can work safely through response training.”
