LG Electronics Smart Home Platform ‘LG ThinQ’, Simplified App Product Registration Process

LG Electronics (CEO Jo Joo-wan) is simplifying the product registration process on the smart home platform ‘LG ThinQ’ so that anyone can easily utilize the convenient AI features offered by LG premium home appliances.

LG ThinQ is LG Electronics’ smart home platform that analyzes and learns the usage patterns of the appliances owned by users to provide comprehensive home control. When LG appliances are registered on LG ThinQ, users receive various content such as personalized usage tips, product anomaly detection, and after-sales service (AS), experiencing a differentiated smart home that upgrades the more the appliances are used.

LG Electronics is introducing the ‘Ambient Link’ feature, which allows products to be registered on the LG ThinQ app without complicated procedures, and is expanding the operation of the ‘Easy Add Service.’

First, the Ambient Link feature automatically recognizes new LG appliances when their power is connected and links them to the app by detecting products already registered on LG ThinQ. Instead of the cumbersome registration steps such as Wi-Fi, QR code, or Bluetooth connection, users can easily enjoy the smart home life provided by LG ThinQ through simplified linking.

This feature pre-identifies customer information from the LG ThinQ server’s ‘Delivery Information System’ and ‘Production Information System,’ where the serial number and receipt date of the purchased product are registered. Based on this information, when the product is installed, it recognizes the new product through direct communication technology between devices and transmits the information to the LG ThinQ app.

This is especially useful when multiple products are purchased at once. If there are already LG appliances registered, they are automatically registered sequentially without the need for individual registration. Also, even if the home network environment changes, only one product needs to be re-registered through this feature, and the rest will be updated automatically.

In addition to Ambient Link, LG Electronics simplifies the product registration process through the Easy Add Service. When a product is installed at home, LG ThinQ matches the recipient’s information and the purchased product information in real time to link them. Once the installation technician completes the product delivery process, the purchased product is automatically displayed on the ThinQ app under the recipient’s name, and the ‘Add’ button is activated, allowing registration with a single touch.

The Easy Add Service was previously available only to customers who purchased through official LG channels such as LG Best Shop and LG Electronics online brand shop, but starting from August this year, it will be expanded to customers who purchase LG Electronics appliances through various ‘mixed sales channels’ such as E-mart, Hi-Mart, and Electronics Land. Through this, LG Electronics aims to provide a consistent customer experience in managing appliances via LG ThinQ.

An LG Electronics representative said, “We have made it easy for anyone to experience the various AI functions and convenience services offered by LG appliances through the expansion of Ambient Link and Easy Add Service,” adding, “We hope customers enjoy a differentiated smart home life by managing their entire home with LG ThinQ.”
