The Ultra-Realistic Metaverse 'Caliverse' Unveiled... Global Launch

Implementation of 1.33 Million Pyeong Play Space
Participant-Centered Metaverse Including UGQ

Lotte Innovate's ultra-realistic metaverse 'Caliverse' will open to users worldwide on the 29th.

Caliverse realizes a hyper-realistic metaverse world. Various elements of avatars such as facial features and body shape can be delicately customized by position, size, shape, and color. Broadly speaking, it offers over 200 variations, and simply calculated, it can generate nearly infinite types of avatars.

The metaverse implemented by Caliverse boasts extremely realistic graphics. The degree of light reflection varies depending on the viewing angle, and the direction of shadows changes, expressing various environmental changes in detail to create more immersive graphics. Changes in day and night time are also applied similarly to the real world.

A vast play space is another feature. The newly introduced 'Origin City' is about six times larger than the area showcased at CES 2024, the world's largest electronics and IT exhibition held earlier this year, covering 1.33 million pyeong (approximately 4.4 million square meters). This is about 34 times the size of Lotte World in Jamsil, Seoul. Therefore, taxi stops are placed at about 30 major locations to enhance user mobility convenience.

Origin City is divided into zones: the central district where users can experience corporate brands by theme, the eastern district focused on entertainment and fashion where various avatar fashion accessories can be purchased, and the western district centered on the UGC town where users can create content. The play space will be expanded in the future depending on user participation. Additionally, it includes spaces such as a concert hall for watching singers' performances, farms and fishing spots for farming, and mazes, allowing users to enjoy various communities according to their interests.

In Caliverse, users can experience shopping for food, electronics, clothing, cosmetics, and more at numerous retail channels located in the central district, including Korea Seven, Lotte Hi-Mart, and Lotte Duty Free. Lotte Duty Free features various global brands from the LVMH group such as Givenchy Beauty, Fresh, Make Up For Ever, MCM, L'Occitane, and Acme de la vie. Entering these brand halls allows users to view virtual products that rival real-life visuals.

In the entertainment area, users can experience next-generation virtual performances by JYP Nmix and EDM DJ Alok in a concert hall with a capacity of 80,000 spectators and immersive sound. Caliverse plans to expand K-pop performances based on its partnership with MBC and will build Tomorrowland Planet through an exclusive partnership with the global EDM festival 'Tomorrowland,' scheduled to be unveiled within the year.

Users accessing Caliverse can easily create and share content using user-generated content (UGC) tools without complicated procedures. Notably, it applies the industry's first user-generated quest (UGQ) element, where users create quests and reward others upon completion. Users can also create AI non-player characters (NPCs) and place them in desired locations. Since users act as operators and set achievement missions, this represents a more active form of UGC.

Users can decorate the interior of their avatar's home reflecting their tastes. They can visit other users' homes or invite others to their own. In the future, updates will allow purchasing virtual land and buildings.

Users can earn rewards through simple missions such as attendance checks. Game elements are introduced throughout the virtual space, allowing users to experience jump maps located between buildings or treasure hunts to earn rewards. Acquired rewards can be used to purchase items needed in the metaverse. As various content is added later, the ways to earn rewards will increase.

Caliverse offers Korean, English, and Japanese languages and plans to expand language options based on user nationality analysis. Users can access the metaverse through the official Caliverse website.
