Recently, with a surge in demand for new apartment sales, a new term "Eoljuksin (preferring new buildings no matter what)" has emerged, reflecting the growing interest in newly built apartments. In particular, the nationwide subscription competition rate for new apartment sales in July was recorded at an average of 48 to 1, marking the highest level in 44 months since November 2020, when subscription fever was at its peak.

An industry insider said, “As the popularity of new buildings rises so much, consumers are actively picking up remaining units at sites offering financial benefits,” adding, “There have been reports of 100% contracts for remaining units in places across the metropolitan area and nationwide, including Yeongtong Xi, Maegyo Station Pallucid, Hillstate The Unjeong, Hillstate Geumo The First, Munhyeon Prugio Triciel, and Lael S.”
In the Sokcho area of Gangwon Province, ‘The Sharp Sokcho Prime View,’ which is attracting attention as a local landmark, is currently selling its remaining units. The complex consists of 8 buildings from basement level 4 to ground level 33, with a total of 1,024 units ranging from 84 to 110㎡, 136 to 180㎡ (duplex), and 142 to 147㎡ (penthouse).
In the subscription held in June, 3,071 applicants applied for 910 general sale units (excluding special supply), recording an average competition rate of 3.4 to 1, drawing significant interest. Currently, the last remaining units offer unprecedented benefits such as a 5% down payment (first installment of 10 million KRW), full interest-free intermediate payments, and free balcony expansion. The area boasts excellent transportation access with the nearby Sokcho intercity bus terminal and easy travel to Gangneung, Yangyang, and Goseong via National Road 7 and Donghae-daero. Additionally, the East-West High-Speed Railway (KTX) and the Donghae Northern Line connecting Seoul and Sokcho are scheduled to open in 2027. Once the KTX Sokcho Station opens, travel time from Seoul Yongsan to Sokcho is expected to be about 99 minutes.
A sales official stated, “Due to the unprecedented financial benefits, recent sales consultations and contract rates have been rising rapidly,” and added, “With the spread of the preference for new buildings, 100% contracts are expected to be completed soon.”
