Service Begins September 10... 15-Minute Intervals, Approximately 100 Minutes Travel Time
The metropolitan express bus (M1) connecting downtown Daejeon and Sejong will begin operation on the 10th of next month.
According to Daejeon City on the 28th, unlike the metropolitan express buses (M-bus) operated by the Metropolitan Area Transportation Committee, this new route is being established through a mutual cooperation agreement between Daejeon and Sejong. It is planned to alleviate congestion in metropolitan transportation connecting central Daejeon to Sejong City.
Starting from Nuridong in Sejong, the bus will pass through Sejong Chungnam National University Hospital, Areumdong, Jongchondong, Dajeongdong, Saeromdong, Hansoldong, and the Sejong Express Intercity Bus Terminal, then continue to Banseok Station, Chungnam National University, Daejeon Transportation Corporation, Daejeon City Hall, and end at the Government Daejeon Complex.
Sixteen buses will be deployed, with an average interval of 15 minutes, 67 one-way trips per day, and an approximate travel time of 100 minutes per trip.
Due to the characteristics of metropolitan express buses, not all stops will be served in order to ensure speed and punctuality. Using transportation card data, transfer and usage demand, as well as movement patterns at each stop, have been analyzed to focus on major hub areas.
Choi Jongmoon, Director of Transportation at Daejeon City, said, "I am pleased that we have achieved results through joint efforts with Sejong City in establishing this new metropolitan express bus route between Daejeon and Sejong," and added, "We will continue to strive for cooperation in building the Chungcheong region megacity."
