Socar Launches Service for Foreign Visitors in Jeju... Expanding to Seoul and Other Areas

Socar announced on the 28th that it will launch services for foreign visitors to Korea in Jeju through global OTAs (Online Travel Agencies).

This is the first time Socar has offered car rental services specifically for foreign tourists. This month, Socar began selling products on global OTAs such as Klook, Kkday, and QeeQ. Jeju was selected as the first service area due to the demand from foreign tourists and the presence of large Socar zones called Socar Stations, and the service was launched as a minimum viable product.

Foreigners holding an international driving permit can purchase Socar products through the global OTAs where Socar is listed. Upon arrival in Jeju, customers take a shuttle to Socar Station Jeju and receive the vehicle on-site through an electronic contract. Unlike domestic members, vehicle control features using the Socar app smart key are not provided; instead, a physical key is given for service.

Based on the results of operating the Jeju service, Socar plans to enhance the service and expand it to inland areas including Seoul and Incheon Airport by 2025. Additionally, Socar plans to develop a separate global version of the Socar app to operate contactless services.

Andonghwa, head of Socar's car-sharing group, said, "We will provide more convenient and efficient mobility services to foreign tourists visiting Korea and contribute to the development of the domestic tourism industry."
