The Korea International Trade Association (KITA) announced on the 28th that it held the "Dinner Meeting Inviting the Japan Kansai Economic Federation" on the 27th at the Signiel Seoul Hotel in Songpa-gu, Seoul. The meeting was arranged to coincide with the Kansai Economic Federation delegation's visit to Korea. The Federation is considered one of the three major economic organizations in the Kansai region of Japan, alongside the Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Kansai Economic Federation. Since 2000, the Federation has organized delegations centered around its Security Committee to conduct annual surveys on economic, diplomatic, and security issues in Korea, visiting Korean government ministries and related institutions.

Last December, KITA established a Korea-Japan Exchange Special Committee within the association and elected Cho Hyun-joon, Chairman of the Hyosung Group, as its chairman in February. On the Korean side, 18 businesspeople affiliated with the Korea-Japan Exchange Special Committee, including KITA Chairman Yoon Jin-sik, Hyosung Chairman Cho Hyun-joon, and Kim Jae-shin, Secretary-General of the Korea-ASEAN Center, attended the meeting. On the Japanese side, 12 people participated, including Yoshiyuki Miyabe, Chief Representative (Vice Chairman of Panasonic Holdings), Seiji Nagai, Chief Representative (Vice President of Obayashi Corporation), and Toshiyuki Sugino, the delegation leader.

In his welcoming speech, Chairman Yoon said, "The Korea-Japan relationship has entered a new turning point with the restoration of shuttle diplomacy, and next year, marking the 60th anniversary of Korea-Japan diplomatic relations, we expect broad exchanges and cooperative achievements." He added, "Let us expand cooperation to lead future industries such as AI, renewable energy, and e-mobility."

Chairman Cho emphasized, "The world today is undergoing major changes such as carbon neutrality and digital transformation, and the impact of climate change is increasing." He added, "To address these various issues together, the Korea-Japan Exchange Special Committee will faithfully serve as a bridge."

Chief Representative Miyabe of the Federation said, "Korea and Japan are the closest neighbors and important cooperation partners," adding, "The Kansai Economic Federation will continue close cooperation and communication in various fields such as security, economy, and society going forward."
