“Thanks to the teacher, I was able to hold on to math a little again, which I wanted to give up.” “Mentoring with the teacher was really enjoyable. If I get the chance, I would like to take classes from the teacher again,” said mentee students who participated in this year’s ‘Seoul National University SAM Mentoring,’ expressing their gratitude to their mentors.

Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Junhee) awarded certificates of appreciation on the 27th to recognize and thank outstanding mentors of the ‘Seoul National University SAM Mentoring’ program.

The district selected 29 outstanding mentors this year based on criteria including ▲participation in the program two or more times ▲recommendations from mentee institutions ▲contributions to improving mentees’ academic abilities and emotional development.

Seoul National University SAM Mentoring is a long-standing educational project in Gwanak-gu conducted in partnership with Seoul National University College of Education since 2006.

This program involves Seoul National University student mentors providing tailored academic guidance, career and college counseling, cultural experience activities, and character education to local students from 3rd grade in elementary school through 2nd grade in high school as part of various after-school programs.

Those wishing to participate in the mentoring program must apply through institutions registered as mentee organizations (▲elementary, middle, and high schools ▲local children’s centers), and mentee institutions can register classes on the SAM Mentoring website.

Mayor Park Junhee said, “Thanks to the volunteer work, effort, and passion of outstanding mentors, we were able to provide equal educational opportunities and character education to students in the district. We will continue to do our best to offer diverse learning opportunities to local students through close cooperation with regional educational institutions.”
