Inauguration Ceremony of the Global Hub City Pan-Citizen Promotion Council to Be Held at City Hall at 3 PM on the 27th
Mayor Park Hyungjoon, City Council Chair, and About 700 Council Executives and Members to Attend
The city of Busan announced that at 3 p.m. on the 27th, the inauguration ceremony for the Busan Global Hub City Pan-Citizen Promotion Council (Executive Co-Chair Yang Jaesaeng and four others), aimed at establishing 'Global Hub City Busan,' will be held at the City Hall Grand Auditorium, hosted by the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Approximately 700 people, including Mayor Park Hyungjun, Busan Metropolitan Council Chairman An Sungmin, Executive Co-Chair Yang Jaesaeng, and other executives and members of the Pan-Citizen Promotion Council, will attend the ceremony. The event will include an introduction of the council's activity plans and the reading of a resolution.
The Pan-Citizen Promotion Council for Busan Global Hub City, launching today, brings together representatives from all walks of life in Busan, including business and civil society, to expand public consensus and unite the power of Busan citizens for the city's advancement as a 'global hub city.' The council consists of over 80 executives, including executive co-chairs, co-chairs, advisors, and operating committee members.
Yang Jaesaeng, President of the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Park Jaeyul, Executive Representative of the Citizens' Solidarity for Local Decentralization and Balanced Development, Baek Myeonggi, Executive Representative of the Global Busan Citizens' Alliance, Choi Hyoja, Executive Representative of the Pan-Women's Promotion Council, and Heo Hyeondo, President of the Busan-Ulsan Small and Medium Business Association, have been appointed as executive co-chairs.
Additionally, the heads of three national movement organizations, including Busan Saemaulhoe, and representatives from various civil society organizations will serve as co-chairs, while key figures from the business, academic, and religious communities in Busan will participate as advisors.
Mayor Park Hyungjun will attend the inauguration ceremony to deliver a congratulatory and welcoming message. Alongside the 700 council members and citizens, he will participate in the first signature campaign calling for the enactment of the 'Busan Global Hub City Special Act' and reaffirm his commitment to its enactment.
The Pan-Citizen Promotion Council will also pledge at the ceremony to urge the National Assembly for the swift enactment of the special act. Moving forward, the council plans to actively carry out various activities to unite the wisdom and capabilities of the local community, including a one-million signature campaign, a pan-citizen rally, and a citizens' resolution rally at the National Assembly.
Yang Jaesaeng, President of the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Executive Co-Chair, stated, "We will work actively with the local community to make Busan a global hub city, including by promoting the enactment of the special act to lead a new economic and industrial renaissance for Busan."
The special act, which was first proposed in the previous National Assembly but regrettably discarded at the end of the 21st Assembly, was reintroduced as the first bipartisan bill of the 22nd Assembly, jointly sponsored by all 18 Busan-area lawmakers immediately after the new session began.
A consensus has already been reached among party leaders, including the floor leaders of both the ruling and opposition parties, and ministry consultations have been completed. If the will of Busan citizens is conveyed, it is expected that the legislative review in the National Assembly will proceed even more swiftly.
Park Hyeongjun, Mayor of Busan.
Mayor Park Hyungjun said, "The President, government, and both the ruling and opposition parties in the National Assembly all agree on the necessity of enacting the special act," adding, "The 'Busan Global Hub City Special Act' is not just for Busan; it is a national management strategy for the sustainable development of Korea, which has reached its limits due to the concentration in the capital region." He continued, "Above all, I ask every citizen to become an ambassador for 'Global Hub City Busan' and raise your voices so that the special act can be passed as soon as possible within this year."
