"Nogizone" Explanation Mocked as "Full Belly"
Shop Owner: "I'm a Mom Before Being a Boss"
Netizens: "It's Right Not to Bring Kids to Bars"
The owner of a beer specialty bar shared a story on social media about being mocked by a customer after informing them that the establishment is a 'No Kids Zone' (a place restricting children's entry).
The author, Mr. A, runs a beer specialty bar in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province. Initially, the place was not a No Kids Zone, but incidents such as children wandering around causing near accidents, disputes among customers, and a child almost falling off two high chairs pushed Mr. A to change the policy. He explained, "There is no reason for all bars to be No Kids Zones, but since 80-90% of our customers are office workers, we chose to implement it." He also mentioned that a notice stating "For children's safety, youth protection, and consideration for other customers, this establishment operates as a No Kids Zone" was posted on the entrance door.
One evening, during a busy time with office workers after work, a group of six adults and one child entered. When Mr. A explained the No Kids Zone policy, the customers responded, "What, you won't serve six adults just because of one child? Seriously. That's so arrogant." Mr. A shared, "Before being a business owner, I am also a mother," and added, "Adults drinking often raise their voices or use foul language, which is not a good environment for children. Was it really necessary to bring a child to a bar?" He continued, "Rather than being angry about being called arrogant, I just felt bad," and expressed his opinion that "children should not be coming to adult bars already."
Following this, Mr. A conducted a poll on the operation of No Kids Zones in bars. As of the afternoon of the 26th, a total of 10,000 people participated, with 91% of respondents supporting the No Kids Zone policy. Netizens reacted with comments such as "There is no need to bring children to bars," and "It is right for bars to operate as No Kids Zones."
