Typhoon and Heavy Rain Response Drill
The Ulsan Fire Department will hold a demonstration of advanced firefighting equipment at Taehwagang Riverside Park No.1 on the 27th at 10 a.m.
This demonstration event aims to introduce equipment that has been introduced since the 8th popularly elected administration, for swift and accurate response to various disasters such as typhoons and heavy rain.
About 30 people, including members of the Special Response Team, will attend and conduct three simulated scenarios. Equipment such as helikites, high-capacity drainage vehicles, recovery support vehicles, unmanned rescue boards, underwater robots, and throwable and thermal imaging drones will be utilized in the rescue operations.
First, unmanned rescue boards and throwable drones will be used to rescue victims struggling in rapidly rising waters caused by heavy rain.
Next, in a scenario where the rescue target is mixed with debris along the waterfront and is difficult to spot with the naked eye, thermal imaging camera drones and helikites will be deployed to search for and rescue the victim.
Finally, the demonstration will conclude with an underwater robot searching for a victim submerged underwater.
Fire Chief Lee Jaesoon stated, "Utilizing underwater robots in water-related accidents can dramatically reduce search times," and added, "The active use of advanced equipment will help make Ulsan a safer city."
The Ulsan Fire Department plans to continue introducing cutting-edge firefighting equipment, such as robot dogs in November, and deploy them at disaster sites.
