tvN STORY, Only SUGA Mosaic in BTS Group Photo
Suga (31, real name Min Yoon-gi), a member of the group BTS, who was booked on charges of driving an electric scooter with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.227%, was mosaicked in the pre-release video of a variety show.
In the pre-release video of episode 98 of the variety show "Hoijangnimne Saramdeul" released by tvN STORY on the 26th, Suga's face in the BTS photo was mosaicked. This was during an interview with hanbok researcher Park Sul-nyeo, who appeared in that episode. When the MC, having discovered several sets of men's hanbok, asked "Who wore these?", Park explained, "BTS wore our clothes when they were rookies." Afterwards, photos of BTS members wearing Park's hanbok appeared on the screen, but Suga's face in those photos was mosaicked.
When asked, "Don't you get contacted to sell the hanbok BTS wore?", Park said, "We even received offers to pay between 25 million and 35 million won per set," but added, "Considering how hard BTS worked to reach where they are, I thought it would be disrespectful to accept money for that," and declined the offers.
On the 7th, Suga was found by police after falling while riding an electric scooter under the influence of alcohol on the streets of Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul. At that time, Suga's blood alcohol concentration was 0.227%, which far exceeded the license cancellation level (0.08%).
He later appeared at the police station on the 23rd, 17 days after the incident, and was questioned for about three hours before being released. On the 25th, he posted a handwritten apology on BTS's official fan community Weverse, stating, "I want to apologize to you again with a shameful heart." He confessed, "Because of this incident, I have caused a great stain on the precious memories made with the members and fans, and have brought shame to the name of BTS," and expressed, "I feel indescribably sorry and distressed for causing harm to the members and the team." Since September, he has been serving as a social service agent and is scheduled to be discharged in June 2025.
