Mapo-gu (Mayor Park Gang-su) held a department heads meeting on the afternoon of the 26th at the Mapo-gu Office large conference room to review the compliance with obligations for preventing major citizen disasters in the first half of 2024.
The briefing session was organized to check the compliance requirements under the Serious Accidents Punishment Act and to share the roles and responsibilities of each department. About 30 people participated, including Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, the deputy mayor, department heads related to public facilities, and representatives from safety and health consulting firms.
The meeting proceeded in the order of ▲ Report on the results of the major citizen disaster inspection for the first half of 2024 ▲ Report on the results of the major citizen disaster service ▲ Report on compliance inspection results and Q&A.
Before the briefing, Mayor Park Gang-su of Mapo-gu said, “Preventing major disasters is the responsibility and duty of all of us, so I ask each department to faithfully perform their assigned roles,” and added, “I hope continuous efforts will be made to establish a safety culture that prioritizes the safety of workers and residents.”
The compliance inspection meeting for major industrial disasters is scheduled to be held in September.
Meanwhile, Mapo-gu is conducting ‘Customized Major Disaster Prevention Education,’ a small group training by task, to strengthen the disaster preparedness capabilities of those in charge. By September, together with specialized institutions and safety and health managers affiliated with Mapo-gu, they will visit about 90 workplaces to inspect risk factors for industrial accidents and establish preventive measures.
