Gurye-gun Holds Art Picnic in Jirisan with Korea National University of Arts

‘Surisuri Masuri Art Picnic’ Theme

On the 24th, Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it held a unique cultural and artistic event in the Jirisan Garden area in collaboration with the Korea National University of Arts (hereinafter ‘KNUA’).

Under the theme of ‘Surisuri Masuri Art Picnic,’ more than 40 current students and alumni of KNUA participated, engaging with tourists and conducting various cultural and artistic experience programs as well as a forest concert.

Since the experiences and performances were planned and conducted directly by the passionate and imaginative KNUA students, the event was even more fresh and meaningful, creating joyful memories with about 300 family-group tourists.

In particular, the event was held in a wide pine forest within Jirisan Garden, which not only provided relief from the heat but was also decorated like a magical forest where fairies might appear, receiving high praise from many visitors.

Gurye-gun and KNUA signed a business agreement in September 2022 and have been carrying out various cooperative projects to revitalize local culture and arts.

Compared to urban areas, Gurye-gun lacks cultural benefits, so the county is increasing opportunities for residents to enjoy culture and arts, while KNUA students gain diverse experiences outside the campus, broadening their artistic knowledge, creating a mutually beneficial effect.

County Governor Kim Soon-ho said, “The response to these cooperative projects is very positive not only among residents but also KNUA students,” adding, “We will actively strive for the mutual development of Gurye-gun and KNUA in the future.”

He also added, “I hope KNUA students will continue to stay in Gurye, provide positive energy to local residents, and grow into professional artists who will not forget Gurye and create various works based on Gurye in the future.”
