'Pilot' Cumulative Audience Reaches 4,253,082
The Hollywood sci-fi movie "Alien: Romulus" topped the weekend box office for the second consecutive week. According to the Korea Film Council's integrated ticketing system on the 26th, it attracted 342,442 viewers across 1,217 screens over the three days from the 23rd to the 25th. With a revenue share of 28.6%, the cumulative audience reached 1,242,478.
The comedy film "Pilot," starring Jo Jung-suk, ranked second with 214,657 viewers on 951 screens. Its revenue share was 16.5%, and the cumulative audience totaled 4,253,082. Following were director Koo Tae-jin's horror film "Neulbom Garden" (149,470 viewers; cumulative 204,654), Korean animation "Sarang-ui Hatchuping" (93,268 viewers; cumulative 790,496), Hollywood disaster blockbuster "Twisters" (91,470 viewers; cumulative 429,472), and the courtroom film "Haengbok-ui Nara," starring Jo Jung-suk and Lee Sun-kyun (84,780 viewers; cumulative 614,583).
The theater landscape could change significantly this weekend. The concert film "Lim Young-woong | I'm Hero The Stadium," featuring singer Lim Young-woong's live performance at Seoul World Cup Stadium, scheduled to be released on the 28th, was ranked first in advance ticket sales as of 9 a.m. that day with a reservation rate of 39.7%. The number of reserved tickets reached 121,631. Sold-out cases are also occurring in special theaters such as IMAX and ScreenX. The former is a special theater equipped with a large screen and three-dimensional sound, while the latter utilizes front and side screens.
