Kakao Entertainment announced on the 26th that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Mohegan Inspire Entertainment Resort for the successful hosting of the Melon Music Awards (MMA) and mutual cooperation.
Through this agreement, collaboration will extend not only to MMA but also to the planning of live performance content based on the intellectual property (IP) of content owned by each company and their live entertainment capabilities.
Melon, Kakao Entertainment’s music platform, held MMA2023 last December as the first event after the opening of the ‘Inspire Arena’ operated by Mohegan Inspire.
As a leading platform, Melon provides a stable ticketing environment for large-scale live content such as concerts by prominent domestic and international artists, festivals, and musicals through its ticketing platform Melon Ticket, fostering the cultural content and performance industry.
Located on Yeongjongdo Island, Inspire Arena is Korea’s first multipurpose indoor venue with a seating capacity of 15,000 and is equipped with a top-tier sound system. Additionally, it features a stage that can be easily transformed depending on the event, and seating designed to enhance audience convenience and interaction with artists without obstructing views.
Jang Yoon-jung, CEO of Kakao Entertainment, stated, "With this agreement, we can grandly host MMA, Korea’s representative awards ceremony and a mega K-pop festival, in a stable environment through close cooperation between the two companies. We will strive to effectively utilize the capabilities and IP held by both companies so that the representative achievements and glory of the domestic music industry and artists can be more widely recognized worldwide."
