In-Kyung Kim Announces Retirement at AIG Women's Open Kim In-kyung

The AIG Women's Open, the final major tournament of the 2024 season on the U.S. Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Tour with a total prize money of $9.5 million, announced on the 25th (local time) via social media that "Kim In-kyung, the 2017 champion, has announced her retirement from professional golf after this year's tournament."


On the same day, Kim In-kyung finished the final 4th round of the AIG Women's Open held at the Old Course at St Andrews in Fife, Scotland, UK (par 72, 6,784 yards) with a score of 3-over-par 75. She ended the tournament in 81st place (11-over-par 299) out of 82 players who made the cut.


Born in 1988, Kim In-kyung joined the LPGA Tour in 2007 and has won a total of 7 tournaments. In major championships, she claimed the title at the 2017 British Women's Open, the predecessor of the AIG Women's Open. She also secured 4 wins on the Ladies European Tour (LET). She was runner-up at the 2012 Nabisco Championship and the 2013 U.S. Women's Open.


During the 2012 Nabisco Championship, Kim In-kyung missed a 30 cm par putt on the final 18th hole, leading to a playoff where she was defeated by Yoo Sun-young. In 2019, she attracted attention by participating in the men's U.S. Open qualifying. Before this tournament, she had earned $10,060,969 (approximately 13.37 billion KRW, ranked 26th) on the LPGA Tour.
