According to Kyodo News on the 25th, TEPCO began the 8th discharge on the 7th and released approximately 7,900 tons into the sea in front of the nuclear power plant.

TEPCO has discharged about 62,600 tons in total, releasing around 7,800 tons each time over eight discharges. The 9th discharge is scheduled to take place from this month through next month.

During this discharge period, TEPCO stated that there were no abnormalities in the concentration of the radioactive substance tritium (hydrogen-3) contained in the seawater around the nuclear power plant.

Previously, TEPCO discharged contaminated water four times in 2023. This discharge corresponds to the fourth of seven planned discharges TEPCO intends to carry out in fiscal year 2024 (April 2024 to March 2025).
