The Democratic Party of Korea, under the direction of leader Lee Jae-myung, is launching an investigation into the "Yoon Seok-yeol administration's erasure of Dokdo."
On the 25th, spokesperson Han Min-soo stated in a briefing, "Leader Lee instructed the formation of an internal investigation team today to look into the Yoon Seok-yeol administration's all-out efforts to erase Dokdo."
Spokesperson Han pointed out, "Recently, Dokdo sculptures installed in Seoul subway stations such as Anguk Station and Jamsil Station were removed, followed by the removal of Dokdo sculptures at the War Memorial of Korea," adding, "Seoul Metro cited interference with passenger flow as the reason, and the War Memorial claimed deterioration as the justification, but these are excuses that no citizen can accept."
He continued, "The Yoon Seok-yeol administration has consistently tried to erase Dokdo. The erasure includes numerous instances such as referring to Dokdo as a disputed territory in military training materials, the disappearance of Dokdo defense drills, neglecting the use of the Sea of Japan notation, and the removal of Dokdo sculptures in public institutions," emphasizing, "Leader Lee judged that the removal of Dokdo sculptures is part of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration's ongoing efforts to erase Dokdo and has ordered a fact-finding investigation."
Spokesperson Han also said, "In particular, Leader Lee instructed that it is urgent to assess whether the Yoon Seok-yeol administration is systematically erasing Dokdo across all government ministries," and added, "Following the party leader's directive, the Democratic Party will form an investigation team to uncover the truth about the Yoon Seok-yeol administration's erasure of Dokdo and will immediately begin the investigation."
