The city of Suwon in Gyeonggi Province is embarking on the creation of an advanced regenerative bio-ecosystem within the Gwanggyo Bio Cluster.

On the 23rd, Suwon City signed a memorandum of understanding with the Council of Advanced Regenerative Medicine Industry (CARM) at the Suwon City Hall situation room, agreeing to collaborate in various areas including ▲ revitalizing Suwon’s bioindustry and attracting advanced companies ▲ supporting CARM-led activities such as conferences and seminars ▲ jointly hosting and discovering bio investment program events, the city announced on the 25th.

Lee Deuk-ju, president of CARM, stated, "There are many hurdles to overcome for the bioindustry, especially the regenerative medicine industry, to grow, and we appreciate Suwon City’s strong commitment to fostering bio ventures. We will spare no support from the association to ensure bio ventures succeed in Suwon, which has all the essential elements for creating an industrial ecosystem such as funds, research institutes, and human resources."

Lee Jae-jun, mayor of Suwon, said, "Believing that Suwon’s future depends on the advanced bioindustry, we are promoting the creation of a bio valley and building a bioindustry ecosystem. We hope the Council of Advanced Regenerative Medicine Industry will actively support the activation of Suwon’s bioindustry." He added, "Suwon City will also provide administrative support to enable the association to operate actively."

Established in May 2016, the Council of Advanced Regenerative Medicine Industry is an organization dedicated to specializing in the ‘advanced regenerative medicine industry,’ an innovative treatment alternative for rare and intractable diseases. It consists of 115 member companies including advanced bio companies and investment firms and institutions.

The council strategically works to develop the domestic regenerative medicine industry by holding conferences to improve bio-related legal regulations and promote investment, as well as organizing corporate and technology exchange meetings for information sharing.

In May, the Council of Advanced Regenerative Medicine Industry successfully conducted the ‘Bio Startup Investment Mentoring Program’ targeting 10 promising bio startups at the ‘2024 Gwanggyo Bio Week’ hosted by the Gwanggyo Bio Innovation Valley Promotion Council at the Suwon Convention Center.
