The Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency will hold the 'Gyeonggi-do Innovation Policy Conference' at the Pangyo Startup Campus on the 3rd of next month.
Hosted by Gyeonggi-do and organized by the Agency, this event, held for the first time this year, is themed 'The Path for Gyeonggi-do Industry Following the U.S. Presidential Election Outcome.' It is designed to analyze the major policies of candidates Harris (Democratic Party) and Trump (Republican Party) ahead of the U.S. presidential election in November, and the resulting economic and industrial impacts on Gyeonggi-do.
Through expert lectures and panel discussions, the conference will analyze the broad impact of the U.S. presidential election on Korea and explore proactive response measures for Gyeonggi-do.
Dr. Kim Ji-yoon, former researcher at the Asan Institute for Policy Studies, and Jeong Eun-mi, head of the Korea Institute for Industrial Economics & Trade, will deliver keynote speeches. Panelists for the discussion include Kang Gu-sang, head of the North America and Europe team at the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy, and Professor Kim Pil-su from Daelim University.
The panel discussion will freely compare the major policies of the U.S. presidential candidates and discuss measures that Gyeonggi-do should prepare for and strive towards, focusing on key industries such as semiconductors and automobiles, as well as trade issues.
Kang Sung-chun, president of the Agency, stated, "The U.S. is currently our country's largest export market and ranks first in trade surplus by country. Since the results of the U.S. presidential election and the consequent policy changes will have a significant impact on Gyeonggi-do's economy and industries, which are specialized in semiconductors and automobiles, we decided to hold this conference."
