There have been consecutive accidents involving burns caused by fires when people tried to puncture butane gas or hairspray containers. Fire authorities advise that to prevent fire accidents, these products should be completely used up and safely disposed of outdoors.
According to fire authorities on the 25th, at around 5:29 PM the previous day, an explosion occurred while puncturing a butane gas container to dispose of it in a restaurant kitchen in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul, injuring two employees. Both employees suffered second-degree burns on their upper bodies and were transported to a hospital.
On the same day at around 12:43 PM, a hairspray explosion occurred at a detached house in Gangbuk-gu, Seoul, causing a woman in her 50s to sustain second-degree burns on her face and left arm.
A fire official stated, "There is a high risk of fire when puncturing containers in narrow, enclosed spaces or near flames," and urged, "Please use the product completely and puncture the container outdoors for disposal."
