A man in his 70s who detonated explosives out of dissatisfaction with dental treatment is facing detention.

Kim Mo (79), who was arrested by the police on charges of arson of a dwelling, appeared at the pre-trial detention hearing at Gwangju District Court on the afternoon of the 24th.

Kim covered his face by wearing a hat pulled down low and a dark-colored mask. He did not respond to reporters' questions such as "Do you admit the charges?"

Earlier, on the 22nd, Kim is accused of lighting a box containing butane gas and flammable materials on fire and detonating it at the entrance of a dental hospital in Chipyeong-dong, Seo-gu, Gwangju, before fleeing the scene. It was understood that Kim had received prosthetic treatment (crowns) five times at the dental hospital and had complained to the hospital about pain.

During the police investigation, he reportedly stated that "I committed the crime because I was angry due to severe pain." After the incident, Kim fled by taxi and surrendered to the police about two hours later.
