If Wages Are Delayed, You're OUT!... Ulsan City Investigates Construction Site Wage Status for Chuseok Holiday

On-Site Visits and Interviews for 278 Construction and Service Orders

Ahead of the Chuseok holiday, Ulsan City will conduct a survey on the status of wage payments.

Ulsan City announced on the 24th that from the 26th to September 13th, it will carry out a comprehensive 'Wage Payment Status Survey' at city-commissioned worksites to prevent wage arrears.

This survey is being conducted to protect workers who may face difficulties due to unpaid wages during the Chuseok holiday. Public officials will visit sites in person, hold interviews with workers, and check for any wage arrears.

The survey covers a total of 278 ongoing projects commissioned by Ulsan City, including 120 construction projects and 158 service contracts.

The main items to be checked are: ▲Confirmation of wage arrears reports received by each department ▲Inspection of employers’ fulfillment of their obligations ▲Whether advance notice and public announcement of payments to subcontractors and workers have been made, among others.

Companies found to have delayed wage payments will be listed on the Ulsan City website. In the event of legal violations, strict measures such as restricting participation in bidding will be enforced in accordance with relevant laws.

An official from Ulsan City stated, "Wage arrears directly affect the livelihood of construction workers," and added, "We plan to focus on preventing wage arrears by inspecting construction sites before the Chuseok holiday."
