Hanwha Ocean announced on the 23rd that it has secured an order for one combat support ship (AOE-Ⅱ) from the Defense Acquisition Program Administration.
The contract amount is 460.2 billion KRW, and the support ship is scheduled to be delivered by December 2028.
Hanwha Ocean had previously announced on the 25th of last month that it was selected as the preferred negotiation partner after submitting a sole bid for the 'Combat Support Ship AOE-Ⅱ 2nd Ship Construction Project' ordered by the Defense Acquisition Program Administration.
A combat support ship is a naval vessel that supplies ammunition, cargo, fuel, and other necessities to ships in operation at sea. It can supply while maneuvering at high speeds like destroyers and frigates during operations.
Hanwha Ocean expects that the AOE-Ⅱ, which has increased its cargo capacity by more than 2.3 times (about 10,000 tons) compared to the Cheonji-class (AOE-Ⅰ) and enhanced performance such as maneuvering speed, will improve the operational sustainability of the naval task force and expand maritime sovereignty areas.
