Department of Food and Nutrition at Silla University Wins Excellence Award for Poster Presentation at the Korean Society of Life Science International Conference

Graduate Students Megan Cho and Hyoeun Kim in the Field of Bioactivity

The Department of Food and Nutrition at Silla University (President: Heo Namsik) received the Excellence Award in the poster presentation category at the '66th Annual Meeting and International Conference of the Korean Society for Life Science 2024'.

Graduate students from the Department of Food and Nutrition at Silla University participated in the '66th Annual Meeting and International Conference of the Korean Society for Life Science 2024', which was held over two days from June 8 to 9 at The-K Hotel Gyeongju, and received the Excellence Award for their poster presentation in the field of bioactive materials.

Graduate students Jo Migeon and Kim Hyoeun from the Department of Food and Nutrition at Silla University, under the supervision of Professor Gong Changsook, presented their research titled 'Anti-Inflammatory Effect of crude extract and solvent fractions from Artemisia littoricola in LPS-induced RAW 264.7 Cells', winning the Excellence Award in the bioactive materials category.

Jo Migeon, a graduate student from the Department of Food and Nutrition at Silla University, said, "I am very pleased to have received the Excellence Award at the International Conference of the Korean Society for Life Science. It was a very rewarding experience to be able to present research papers from various fields and learn about the latest trends through the Korean Society for Life Science. I will strive to further develop myself based on this academic conference," expressing her feelings and aspirations upon receiving the award.

The Department of Food and Nutrition at Silla University, led by supervising professor Gong Changsook, is contributing to the advancement of food and nutrition science by isolating and identifying active components, verifying their functionalities such as anti-obesity, anti-inflammatory, anticancer, and antibacterial effects, and operating a laboratory for material development and experimental nutritional chemistry.
