Meeting with Graduate Students and University Presidents... Discussing Talent Development
Sharing Research Achievements and Promoting International Exchange
Minister Yoo Sang-im of the Ministry of Science and ICT communicated with students and university presidents in digital fields such as artificial intelligence (AI) to explore ways to nurture talent.
On the 23rd, Minister Yoo attended the 'Dialogue with Digital Innovation Talent' and the 'Digital Innovation Talent Council Inauguration Ceremony and University Presidents' Meeting' held at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Seoul.
The event was organized to discuss policy directions for nurturing digital innovation talent with graduate students, undergraduates, and university presidents in the digital field.
About 100 participants attended the event, including students enrolled in digital innovation graduate schools and related majors. The digital innovation graduate schools include △ AI Graduate School △ AI Convergence Innovation Graduate School △ AI Semiconductor Graduate School △ Metaverse Convergence Graduate School △ Convergence Security Graduate School.
The students sought advice on career paths after graduate school and the mindset needed as researchers. Minister Yoo promised to actively support talents so they can fully demonstrate their capabilities in research and industry. He also shared his views on the future of Korea's digital landscape 10 years from now and aspirations for Korea to become a top 3 AI nation.
The Digital Innovation Talent Council inauguration ceremony and university presidents' meeting were attended by presidents and vice presidents of domestic universities participating in the digital innovation graduate school project, the AI and Digital Secretary of the Presidential Office, leading professors in AI, AI semiconductor, metaverse, and convergence security fields, and the president of the Institute for Information & Communications Technology Planning and Evaluation.
The Digital Innovation Talent Council was launched with the joint goal of nurturing high-level talent in the digital field, strengthening research outcome sharing and cooperation among graduate schools, and promoting international exchange. After the inauguration ceremony, the university presidents' meeting discussed cooperation plans among graduate schools for nurturing digital talent.
Minister Yoo emphasized, "To secure core digital technologies in competition with leading technology countries, we will actively support growth into digital innovation talents with global capabilities through creative, challenging, and convergence research."
