Yeongju Saemaeul Association Promotes 'Green City Yeongju' with Citizens

Energy Saving Campaign in Everyday Life at Yeongju Station Square

The Saemaeul Association of Yeongju, Gyeongsangbuk-do, took the lead in creating a 'Green City' by conducting an energy-saving campaign with citizens at Yeongju Station Square, a location with high foot traffic, on the 23rd.

About 100 participants, mainly from the Saemaeul Association, took part in the campaign, distributing promotional materials to citizens using placards and banners and urging them to join in energy-saving efforts.

In particular, as the prolonged heatwave has increased air conditioner usage and power consumption, the campaign shared practical tips for saving energy in daily life, such as: ▲ maintaining air conditioner temperature at 26°C ▲ taking the stairs instead of elevators ▲ using public transportation ▲ unplugging unused electronic devices ▲ using power strips with automatic shut-off features.

This campaign encouraged voluntary participation from citizens, spreading the atmosphere of practicing green living and contributing to the expansion of carbon neutrality and energy-saving culture.

Woo Youngsun, president of the Saemaeul Association, said, "Small actions in our daily lives can change our environment," and added, "The Saemaeul Association will take the lead in promoting energy-saving practices that are easy to know but hard to put into action, so that we can create a Green City together with citizens."

Park Namseo, mayor of Yeongju, expressed his gratitude by saying, "I deeply thank the members of the Yeongju Saemaeul Association for helping many people realize the importance of saving and put it into practice through this campaign," and requested, "I ask for the active participation of all citizens so that the culture of energy saving can take root."

The Yeongju Saemaeul Association is making great efforts to preserve the local environment sustainably by carrying out large-scale environmental protection projects and the National Land Cleanup Movement based on the Saemaeul spirit of sharing, consideration, and solidarity. They are also striving to create a warmer world through various volunteer activities and campaigns to promote basic order.
