Jungnang-gu Successfully Concludes 2024 Eulji Exercise

Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi) successfully completed the 4-day national emergency preparedness drill, the Eulji Exercise, held from the 19th to the 22nd.

The 2024 Eulji Exercise began with an unannounced response drill in the early hours of the 14th, followed by various training sessions and discussions involving all staff members.

The training included ▲ discussions on management and operation of wartime mobilization resources and supplies ▲ discussions on the operation of shelters for displaced persons and resident protection measures ▲ departmental dispersal drills ▲ military chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) and combat equipment exhibition ▲ emergency relief supplies transportation drills ▲ air raid evacuation drills, among others.

Notably, on the third day, the 22nd, a military equipment exhibition was held on the first floor of the district office. With cooperation from the 56th Division Chemical Support Unit and the 221st Brigade, the exhibition showcased eight types of firearms including the K2C1 rifle, surveillance equipment, combat supplies, and ready-to-eat combat rations, providing residents with a rare opportunity to see military equipment not commonly encountered in daily life.

Along with the equipment exhibition, various drills conducted during the Eulji Exercise were carried out jointly by civilian, military, and police forces. Cooperation among local residents, fire stations, and police stations in participating in the exercise helped raise staff security awareness and enhance the ability to respond to wartime crisis situations.

Ryu Gyeong-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, stated, “This Eulji Exercise was especially meaningful as it involved cooperation among civilians, military, and police.” He added, “Through the exhibition, we were able to confirm the modernization of military equipment and the strength of our armed forces.” He further emphasized, “Having recognized the importance of national defense through the Eulji training, we will continue to address the improvements identified during this message management process and prepare countermeasures to actively reflect them in next year’s Chungmu plan.”
