"Will Become Everyone's President... Trump Re-election Serious"
Vice President Kamala Harris officially kicks off her presidential campaign with her acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention on the 22nd (local time). Vice President Harris plans to position the strong rebuilding of the middle class and unity as her core goals, setting herself in opposition to former President Donald Trump.
In a summary released in advance that day, Harris stated, "In this election, our country stands at a crossroads: whether to return to a past of division and cynicism or to seize the opportunity to open a new chapter toward a new world."
She said, "I know Americans with diverse views are watching this speech. I want to say this to you: I promise to be a president for all Americans." She added, "I will be a president who unites us, listens, and leads. I will be a president who fights for realistic, pragmatic, and sensible Americans. From the courtroom to the White House, this is the mission of my life."
Vice President Harris also emphasized, "Building a strong middle class is the core goal of my presidency," adding, "The middle class is my background, and this issue is personal to me."
Sharing her childhood experience growing up in a middle-class single-mother immigrant family, Harris is expected to approach voters warmly and adopt a strategy of confronting wealthy businessman and former President Donald Trump.
She recalled, "My mother, Shyamala Harris, crossed the ocean at 19 from India to California with the dream of becoming a scientist to treat cancer," adding, "I miss her every day, especially now."
She also revealed her experience helping her friend Wanda, who was sexually assaulted by her stepfather during high school, saying, "This is why I decided to become a prosecutor," and, "I entered the legal profession to protect people like Wanda."
Regarding former President Trump, she emphasized, "We know what a second Trump term would be like. It is already outlined in 'Project 2025.' Trump is not a serious person, but letting Donald Trump back into the White House would be a very serious matter."
Vice President Harris passionately stated, "I love America with all my heart. Wherever I go, whoever I meet, I feel that our country is ready to move forward," adding, "In this country, anything is possible. Nothing is beyond our reach."
