From the 30th, Bus Travel Times in Dongtan 1 and 2 New Towns Will Be Significantly Reduced

Hwaseong City Operates 9 City and Village Buses on the Upper Road Connecting Gyeongbu Expressway

Starting from the 29th, two roads connecting Dongtan 1 and 2 New Towns in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province, crossing over the Gyeongbu Expressway, will be opened. From the following day, nine bus routes traveling between the two new towns will also begin operation using these roads.

Hwaseong City announced on the 23rd that with the opening of two east-west connecting roads over the Gyeongbu Expressway linking Dongtan 1 and Dongtan 2 New Towns on the 29th, the routes of nine city and village bus lines will be changed to operate via the east-west connecting roads starting from the 30th.

Among the two main roads to be opened, the 'Road 1,' connecting the south side of Yeoul Park and the south side of the pilot complex, will be served by five routes, while the 'Road 6,' linking Woncheon-ro and Chidongcheon-ro, will be served by four routes, the city explained.

The routes passing through Road 1 are ▲H24 (Byeongjeom Station~Jungdong) ▲H67 (Dongtan 2 Garage~Hyangnam) ▲H101 (Mubongsan Natural Recreation Forest~Banjeong-dong) ▲709 (Seodongtan Station~Dongtan Station) ▲19-3 (Yeongcheon-dong~Byeongjeom Station). The routes passing through Road 6 are ▲7-1A (Dongtan 2 Garage~Jowon New Town) ▲71 (Osan~Chidong Elementary School) ▲17 (Byeongjeom Station~Dongtan Station) ▲H17 (Jangji-dong~Osan Station).

The city expects that the bus route changes will significantly reduce travel time between the two new towns, improving convenience for residents. The city also explained that the remaining four east-west connecting roads, numbered 2 to 5, which will be newly created through the undergrounding of the Gyeongbu Expressway, are scheduled to open without delay within this year.

Jung Myung-geun, Mayor of Hwaseong City, said, "We expect that the opening of the east-west connecting roads between Dongtan 1 and 2 New Towns will greatly improve citizens' travel convenience," adding, "We will continue to make efforts to improve the public transportation system in ways that citizens can feel."

Meanwhile, the east-west connecting roads over the Gyeongbu Expressway are a result of the undergrounding project of the Dongtan section, 1.2 km in length, which was completed last March. In addition to the connecting roads on the surface, a park covering 87,005 square meters, equivalent to 12 soccer fields, will be created.
