Suwon City Signs Business Agreement with KEPCO MCS to Prevent Solitary Deaths On the 22nd, Suwon City in Gyeonggi Province signed a business agreement with KEPCO MCS at Suwon City Hall for the "Anbu Ddokddok Project to Prevent Solitary Deaths and Support Socially Isolated Households."

The city of Suwon in Gyeonggi Province is conducting the ‘Anbu Ddokddok Project’ to check on individuals at risk of solitary death using IoT (Internet of Things) in collaboration with KEPCO MCS.

On the 23rd, Suwon City announced that on the 22nd, it signed a business agreement for the ‘Anbu Ddokddok Project for the Prevention of Solitary Death and Support for Socially Isolated Households’ at Suwon City Hall with KEPCO MCS.

According to the agreement, Suwon City will recruit participants (those at risk of solitary death) for the Anbu Ddokddok Project and provide administrative support to ensure smooth implementation. KEPCO MCS will detect abnormal situations by utilizing IoT light sensors and remote meter reading power data. They will also provide regular welfare check services, make confirmation calls to participants if abnormalities occur, and carry out emergency dispatch services.

Specifically, AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure) remote meters and IoT LED lights will be installed in target households, and abnormal signs will be identified by analyzing power consumption and LED light data. Additionally, a power manager will visit or call monthly to check on participants. If abnormal signs are detected, the power manager will make an emergency dispatch and coordinate with fire stations and police stations to verify the situation. After the dispatch, the results will be reported to the local administrative welfare center.

Kim Hyun-soo, the First Deputy Mayor of Suwon City, stated, "The number of people passing away alone is increasing every year, so it is necessary to check on socially isolated households from a preventive perspective." He added, "We will join forces with KEPCO MCS to prevent solitary deaths, which are sometimes called ‘social murder.’"
