On the 22nd, at the '52g Council' meeting held at GS Tower in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, Chairman Huh said, "Empathy and voluntary change of on-site employees create true innovation," and added, "Let’s cultivate 10,000 digital innovation executors through the 52g activities that are changing GS Group’s work culture."
The event was attended by more than 80 executives and staff members operating 52g organizations from 20 group companies including GS Caltex, GS Retail, and GS Construction, along with Chairman Huh. They reviewed the achievements of the 52g activities, which are promoting group-level work culture and DX work innovation, and discussed future development directions.
52g stands for '5pen 2nnovation GS' and refers to group-level activities leading GS’s digital work innovation. It embodies the philosophy that creative ideas emerge through voluntary exchange and cooperation among members, and that the group-wide work culture changes through voluntary success experiences of on-site employees.
52g was launched in 2020, right after Chairman Huh Tae-soo took office, with a small team of two members belonging to GS Corporation. However, as it expanded work innovation across affiliates, the organization gradually grew. As of August, the dedicated 52g personnel in GS Group total 77, including 17 studio members from GS Corporation consisting of work innovation coaches, IT developers, and UX experts, as well as 60 crew members selected annually from each affiliate.
Chairman Huh has consistently participated in major meetings organized by 52g. This aligns with his management philosophy emphasizing the "power of the field to actively adapt to change." In particular, Chairman Huh’s value that the power of the field must start from employees’ empathy and voluntary change further empowers the 52g activities pursuing voluntary innovation.
Recently, 52g has been focusing on connecting practical innovation beyond employee experience to improving on-site employees’ work and customer experience, as well as discovering new business opportunities. Digital innovation projects led by 52g include safety management at GS Caltex’s Yeosu plant, maintenance work efficiency at GS EPS power plants, customer experience improvement at GS Retail, safety management communication tools for foreign workers at GS Construction sites, and FC Seoul fan service improvement at GS Sports.
