At a restaurant in the United States, a two-year-old child was mistakenly served wine instead of juice, resulting in the child being taken to the emergency room.
According to foreign media including the New York Post and KSBW 8 News on the 21st, on the 17th (local time), the Valencia couple living in Salinas, California, visited a Japanese restaurant with their two-year-old daughter.
However, during the meal, the daughter suddenly began to exhibit abnormal behavior. She was unable to hold her head up and started staggering. Noemi Valencia, the child's mother, described the situation, saying, "My daughter was shaking her body, then fell down, leaned against the wall, and couldn’t lift her head or speak properly."
Sensing something was wrong, the couple checked the apple juice their daughter had drunk and detected the smell of alcohol.
Eventually, the child was taken to the emergency room, and a blood test revealed a blood alcohol concentration of 0.12%.
It turned out that the restaurant had mistakenly served wine instead of juice. The restaurant apologized, stating, "An employee mistakenly served cooking wine that was incorrectly labeled as 'apple juice.'"
The couple urged the restaurant to "properly label food and beverages to prevent such incidents from happening again." They also advised parents raising children to "always taste and check what is served to their children first."
Fortunately, the child is reported to have recovered. Police and state authorities are investigating the details of the incident.
