"What if the packaging gets a little crumpled?"... Emart Opens Refurb Store 'Insaeng 2hoecha'

30% Discount on Appliances with 'No Functional Issues' Including Rice Cookers
Also Available Through Online Mall 'Thank You Market'

Emart announced on the 23rd that it has partnered with the refurbished product sales platform 'Thank You Market' to open a refurbished pop-up store (temporary store) called 'Life 2nd Round' at its Jungdong branch in Seoul.

Refurbished products refer to items that have no functional defects but are difficult to sell at full price due to damaged packaging or labels, display items, or being out of season, and are newly refurbished and sold at a discount. Emart explained that it planned the 'Refurb Project' to create a virtuous cycle that reduces waste generated in stores and helps customers shop economically.

The store name 'Life 2nd Round' means that the products, which were about to be discarded, have been reborn as valuable items. Household appliances such as rice cookers, vacuum cleaners, and shavers sold at Life 2nd Round are usually more than 30% cheaper than the regular price. There is no difference in functionality compared to products sold at full price. Emart's refurbished products can also be purchased on the online mall Thank You Market. Customers who sign up as members on 'Thank You Market' through the Shinsegae Point app by the 10th of next month will receive a 5% discount coupon and 3,000 Thank You Market points that can be used like cash.

Previously, Emart established a collaborative system with 'Thank You Market' not only by supplying products but also by supporting design rebranding and logistics, and opened the first pop-up test store at the Jungdong branch. Emart plans to expand follow-up cooperative projects such as increasing the number of stores by observing customer responses. Jeon Sang-jin, head of Emart Support Headquarters, said, "It provides customers with opportunities for economical shopping, improves inventory management and logistics efficiency for companies, and at the same time reduces environmental damage caused by waste," adding, "We hope customers develop a positive perception of refurbished products."
