A fire broke out at a hotel in Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province, resulting in the death of one guest and four others being transported to the hospital in cardiac arrest.
According to the fire authorities, a report of smoke was received at 7:39 PM on the 22nd from a room on the 8th floor of the hotel. There were no guests in the reported room.
The fire department issued a Level 1 response at 7:42 PM and arrived at the scene within one minute. About 10 minutes later, at 7:57 PM, they escalated to a Level 2 response. A total of 153 firefighters and 46 fire trucks were deployed to extinguish the fire.
So far, a total of 12 casualties have been confirmed. One guest died, and four were transported to the hospital in cardiac arrest. Three are seriously injured, and four have minor injuries.
Firefighting and rescue operations are still ongoing, so the number of casualties may increase.
