About 100 Bomb Threat Posts Uploaded on Embassy Website
The website of the German Embassy in Korea received terror threat posts stating "I will plant explosives," prompting the police to launch an investigation.
According to the Namdaemun Police Station in Seoul on the 22nd, about 100 bomb threat posts were uploaded in the inquiry section of the German Embassy's website from the 20th to that day.
The posts included statements in German saying "I will plant explosives at the German Embassy," and in Korean and Japanese threatening to blow up major facilities such as Seoul Station and Seoul Asan Medical Center.
Although no specific date or time for the explosion was announced, the content and format were found to be similar to terror threat emails or faxes continuously sent to major domestic public institutions since August last year.
After receiving the report that afternoon, the police patrolled the German Embassy and other facilities mentioned in the posts but found no explosives.
The police are currently tracing the author's internet protocol (IP) address.
