Insilicogen Wins National Bio Big Data Platform Construction Project

In Silico Genomics Co., Ltd. (CEO Namwoo Choi), a bioinformatics specialist company, announced on the 22nd that it has won the bio big data platform construction project led by the Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information (KISTI).

According to In Silico Genomics, this project is the first phase of the national integrated bio big data project. In Silico Genomics, along with Solideo Systems and Penta System Technology, will participate as a consortium. The project will run until November 2026.

The national integrated bio big data construction project is a research and development (R&D) initiative that integrates clinical information, omics data, public data, and personal health information to be opened for research purposes.

Advanced countries such as the UK and the US have designated bio big data as a national strategic resource since 2006, conducting precision medicine research and services. South Korea also plans to build a bio big data research environment to collect, store, manage, and utilize multi-omics data such as genomes and proteomes of 770,000 people by 2028, aiming to lead precision medicine and industrial innovation under national leadership.

In Silico Genomics, which is in charge of this project, has previously carried out numerous government database construction projects. In this project, it plans to build cloud systems for bio big data databases (DB), computing, and related resources.

Namwoo Choi, CEO of In Silico Genomics, stated, "The goal is to manage vast genome data integrated with clinical data," adding, "Through this national bio big data platform construction project, we will support domestic researchers to easily utilize high-quality genome data, thereby contributing to the advancement of precision medicine and the improvement of public health."
