Namdong-gu, Incheon is actively designating and operating Good Price Stores to stabilize prices and revitalize the local economy.
As of August 22, there are 45 Good Price Stores in Namdong-gu, the highest number among the 10 districts and counties in Incheon.
Good Price Stores, which offer affordable prices and high-quality services, are designated by local governments according to the guidelines of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. The designation targets business operators running personal service industries such as restaurants and hair salons, whose prices are lower than the average prices in nearby commercial areas.
The district is striving to discover new participating stores to support small business owners experiencing sales declines and to alleviate the financial burden on the working-class economy. Along with price stabilization campaigns in the first and second halves of the year, regular promotional activities are conducted using online and offline media such as the district office website, social media (SNS), district newsletters, and electronic billboards.
Once designated as a Good Price Store, businesses can attach a notification plaque to their stores and receive incentives such as customized product support and promotion through the district office website and SNS. In particular, the district supports various items such as fans and baby chairs by surveying desired items per store, including volume-based waste bags and door mats.
Additionally, videos promoting Good Price Stores are produced and broadcasted, and since this year, outstanding representatives of Good Price Stores are selected and awarded the district mayor’s commendation to boost morale.
Park Jong-hyo, the mayor of Namdong-gu, has also taken the lead in revitalizing the local commercial district by visiting Good Price Stores in the area and communicating with merchants.
Mayor Park said, "I hope many consumers will use Good Price Stores to help revitalize the local economy. We will continue to expand and support Good Price Stores."
Meanwhile, Incheon City supports a 12% cashback on payments made with the local currency Incheon e-eum when using Good Price Stores until the end of this year.
Discount benefits are also available for card payments. An event is underway with 10 companies including KB Financial Group, Shinhan Card, and Lotte Card, offering a 2,000 KRW discount when paying 10,000 KRW or more at Good Price Stores.
