AIG Women's Open, Total Prize Money Increased to $9.5 Million

The total prize money for the final major tournament of the 2024 LPGA Tour season, the AIG Women's Open, has been increased to $9.5 million (approximately 12.7 billion KRW).

The LPGA Tour and The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews (R&A), which host the tournament, announced on the 21st (local time) that the total prize money for the AIG Women's Open has been raised from $9 million last year to $9.5 million. Accordingly, the winner's prize money has also increased from $1.35 million last year to $1.425 million.

The AIG Women's Open will be held over four days starting on the 21st at the Old Course at St Andrews in Scotland (par 72, 6,784 yards), known as the "Home of Golf." After this tournament, the winner of the Rolex Annika Major Award, given to the player with the best performance across the five major tournaments this season, will be decided. A prerequisite for receiving this award is winning a major tournament. Ayaka Furue, the Evian Championship winner, is currently in first place (70 points), followed by Nelly Korda (USA), the Chevron Championship champion, Yuka Saso (Japan), the US Women's Open winner, and Hee Young Yang, the KPMG Women's PGA Championship champion, all tied for second place (60 points each).

This year, the favorites for the title include six-time season winner Korda, defending champion Lilia Vu (USA) returning from a back injury, Paris Olympic gold medalist Lydia Ko (New Zealand), and two-time winner Lauren Coughlin (USA). South Korea's contenders include Hee Young Yang, Jin Young Ko, Hyo Joo Kim, Ji Ae Shin, Ah Rim Kim, Jin Hee Lim, So Mi Lee, and Na Rin An.
