There was a heated debate among netizens over an employee who gave regular customers free coffee every day without the boss's permission.

On the 20th, a post titled "What should we do about this employee?" was uploaded on an online community. The author, Mr. A, shared, "This is a story about the owner of a private cafe. The employee runs the cafe as if they were the owner," and revealed the conversation between the cafe owner and the employee.

In the disclosed conversation, the owner asked, "Did you give customers free coffee by any chance?" The employee replied, "Yes, because they are regulars who come often." The owner then said, "You should have at least told me," adding, "Even for regulars, there is no free coffee. I checked the CCTV and saw you sent an email; this is not right," criticizing the employee. The employee apologized, saying, "I was trying to run the cafe well. I'm sorry."

When the owner asked, "I understand your intention, but doesn't this hurt the cafe's sales?" the employee responded, "If even those regulars are gone, the cafe's sales will be poor." The owner retorted, "Then you should be the owner. That's my decision."

Netizens showed mixed reactions after reading the conversation.

Some netizens viewed the employee's act of giving free coffee without the owner's permission as wrong. They commented, "Thinks they're the owner," "Losing a regular customer," "What kind of logic is it to be afraid sales won't increase if you give it for free?" "I guarantee they are 100% acquaintances," "They could give free coffee to all their acquaintances like that," "Without the owner's permission? That's inconsiderate behavior," and so on.

On the other hand, some criticized the owner's reaction, saying things like, "Is a service for regulars too much to ask?" "They said they did it thinking about the store's sales, but the reaction is really embarrassing," "The part-timer was probably trying their best," "That owner seems like they would even charge the employee," "Considering the cost of coffee, it's not a big loss," "If they gave free coffee, the customers probably bought other things too, so isn't that okay?"
