LG Electronics Launches New 25-Inch AI Washing Machine in Europe to Strengthen Market Presence

IFA in Berlin Unveils

LG Electronics announced on the 22nd that it will unveil a new drum washing machine with a width of 25 inches at IFA 2024, Europe's largest home appliance exhibition, held in Berlin, Germany, starting next month on the 6th.

This is the first time LG Electronics is introducing a 25-inch washing machine in Europe. Compared to the 24-inch model, this product is 1 inch wider, but the washing capacity (16kg) is 3kg larger. It was designed to suit the lifestyle of Europeans. In Europe, washing machines are installed in various places such as bathrooms or kitchens, so product size greatly influences the choice. In fact, most washing machines sold in Europe are 24 inches, which can be installed even in narrow spaces. Although 27-inch large-capacity products are also sold, their share is small.

LG Electronics developed the new product by noting that customers of 24-inch washing machines in Europe need larger washing capacity due to an increase in family members but want a product size smaller than the 27-inch model and at a reasonable price. The new product is equipped with LG Electronics' artificial intelligence (AI) technology and component expertise symbolized by the 'AI DD (Direct Drive) motor.' The AI analyzes the weight, moisture, and material of the laundry loaded by the customer and washes it with the optimal motion that protects the fabric among the six motions unique to LG Electronics' washing method.

In addition, the 'TurboWash 360' technology sprays water and detergent simultaneously in four directions to wash 3kg of laundry in 39 minutes. It also features an 'automatic detergent drawer' function that detects the weight and degree of contamination of the laundry and automatically dispenses the appropriate amount of detergent.

As the number of pet families (a compound word of pets and family) increases, LG Electronics applied a 'Pet Care Course' to the new product for customers who have pets. This course cleans with hot water up to 60 degrees Celsius and reduces pet odors on clothing through a four-step rinsing process. According to test results from the certified testing agency Intertek, it reduces trimethylamine, isovaleraldehyde, acetic acid, and methyl mercaptan, which cause unpleasant odors, by up to 99%, suppressing odor generation.
