Kim Dong-hwan, the third-generation head of the Binggrae Group, has been indicted on charges of assaulting a police officer who was dispatched while intoxicated.
On the 21st, the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office announced that Kim Dong-hwan, eldest son of Kim Ho-yeon, chairman of Binggrae, was non-custodially prosecuted for obstruction of official duties.
Earlier, Kim was accused of assaulting a police officer who was dispatched following a 112 emergency call after causing a disturbance around 9 a.m. on June 17 in an apartment complex in Ichon-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul.
At the time, Kim, who was intoxicated, reportedly assaulted the officer who was guiding him to return home, saying, "Why should I be taken away?"
The Yongsan Police Station transferred Kim to prosecution without detention on June 19 on charges of obstruction of official duties.
