A man in his 40s drowned while trying to pick up his daughter's hat that was blown away by the wind.

On the 21st, Yonhap News reported, "At 12:41 PM on the 20th, a man in his 40s drowned near Mujigae Bridge in Buri-myeon, Geumsan-gun, Chungnam." Police and fire authorities responded to a report saying, "The husband fell into the water and is not visible," and rescued Mr. A (in his 40s) from the river, but he ultimately died.

Mr. A, who lives in Daejeon, was reportedly enjoying a vacation near Mujigae Bridge with his wife and two preschool children when the accident occurred. According to the police, when his daughter's hat was blown into the river by the wind, he went to retrieve it but fell into a 2-meter-deep pool and could not get out.

Earlier, on the 3rd of this month, a couple in their 50s who were playing in the water in the same area also had an accident where the wife drowned. A police official stated, "Local residents believe the water is relatively shallow, but due to heavy rains last month, deep pools have formed in various places," and added, "The current has also become stronger, so caution is advised when entering the water."
