GreenPlus Signs 6 Billion KRW Lease-Type Smart Farm Contract in Sangju, Gyeongbuk

Greenplus, a company specializing in smart farm construction, announced on the 21st that it has signed a contract worth 6 billion KRW for a "rental-type smart farm" in Sangju, Gyeongbuk. With this, Greenplus will continue the construction of the 2nd complex of rental-type smart farms for farmers in Sangju, following the first complex ordered last year. The expected completion date is June 30, 2025.

Through the rental-type smart farm, Greenplus plans to provide existing farmers not only with the latest smart farm technology but also with technical education and practical training opportunities based on this. This will lower the entry barriers and reduce the burden for farmers adopting smart farms. This business model is expected to serve as an important stepping stone for agricultural innovation.

Jung Soon-tae, CEO of Greenplus, stated, “Recently, orders related to regional specialized rental-type smart farms, youth smart farms, and innovation valleys have been steadily increasing,” and added, “We are pleased to provide more farmers with easy access to smart farms and opportunities to successfully apply advanced agricultural technologies through this contract.” He also added, “With the full-scale expansion of the rental-type smart farm business, the digital transformation speed of existing farmers is expected to accelerate.”

Last month, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs enacted the "Act on the Promotion and Support of Smart Agriculture (Smart Agriculture Act)" and announced plans to convert 30% of agricultural production to smart agriculture by 2027. This legislation established a legal foundation for the systematic promotion and support of smart agriculture.
