Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced on the 20th that it conducted an emergency blood collection drill linked to the 2024 Eulji Exercise at the district office annex.

The district collaborated with the public health center and the Korean Red Cross Seoul Central Blood Center to carry out blood collection training assuming a wartime enemy terror attack scenario, aiming to master smooth blood supply procedures in case of casualties.

The drill was held from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM, with a temporary blood collection site set up in the district office annex auditorium to operate the blood collection team.

Participants included local residents aged between 17 and under 70, with men weighing over 50kg and women over 45kg, as well as personnel involved in the Eulji Exercise. Notably, over 120 district office employees actively participated in blood donation, promoting the importance of blood donation and leading life-sharing efforts.

This emergency wartime blood collection drill included the same procedures as general blood donation, such as ▲blood type test ▲blood specific gravity test ▲blood pressure test ▲hepatitis B antigen test ▲hepatitis C antibody test ▲liver function test ▲syphilis antibody test.

Blood Collection Linked to Eulji Training... Yeongdeungpo-gu Officials Participate in Emergency Blood Donation During Exhibition

The district began the Eulji Exercise on August 19 with an initial briefing and will continue until the 22nd. This year, considering the serious security situation such as North Korea’s recent release of trash balloons toward the South, the district plans to strengthen crisis management capabilities to swiftly respond to threats and provocations through the training.

In particular, on August 21, a large-scale ‘wartime enemy terror response drill’ will be conducted in cooperation with the Korea Securities Depository, the 7688th Unit, Yeongdeungpo Police Station, Yeongdeungpo Fire Station, and Korea Electric Power Corporation Nam Seoul Headquarters. On the same day, an ‘exhibition of military equipment and emergency food tasting event’ will be held around Dangsan Park.

On the final day of the drill, August 22, an air raid warning will be issued assuming an air raid situation, and a ‘civil defense evacuation drill’ involving the entire population will be conducted.

Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, expressed, “I deeply thank the residents and staff who actively participated in this blood collection drill,” and added, “Through four days of substantial training, we will strengthen emergency response capabilities and do our best to protect the lives and property of our residents.”
